Major Stan Kovacek, as the commanding officer of SG-9, specializes in handling diplomatic situations. He led the negotiations with the Taldor on P3X-775 to request the release of SG-1 from Hadante prison, and although his initial attempts met with limited success, SG-1 eventually escaped from the prison, making further negotiations unnecessary.
