ARCHBISHOP FIERRO

Archbishop Fierro was a clergyman from Central America who had worked closely with the sisters of St. Marcus Convent to bring humanitarian aid to his country. He had arrived in Los Angeles where he was scheduled to conduct a blessing service with some of the sisters who had been to his country and to speak to a missionary group and other people who had generously donated time and money to work with the poor, the sick, and the children.

Piedra, an international assassin, had also come to Los Angeles for a hit, and he received his instructions from C. W. Smith, his contact and paymaster, to kill the archbishop during his appearance at the convent. Although the DXS had taken Piedra into custody, he had managed to escape and make his way to the convent where he disguised himself as an old man.

Terry, whose sister had been murdered by Piedra, had partnered with MacGyver, believing him to be the assassin she intended to kill. Although MacGyver was able to convince her otherwise, they were both apprehended by Emilio and Lopez, part of the archbishop's security detail, and brought to the convent.

Sister Eileen Kennedy, one of the sisters at St. Marcus Convent, welcomed Archbishop Fierro when he arrived, and she greeted and welcomed the crowd who had arrived to hear him speak. However, once it was discovered that Piedra had escaped, MacGyver cooperated with Emilio and Lopez, and they tried to convince the archbishop that the danger of making a public appearance was too great. Despite the threat, the archbishop insisted that he must do the Lord's will regardless of the risks.

As Emilio and Lopez coordinated their team for a search of the grounds, MacGyver donned the archbishop's robes and took his place. Piedra, disguised as a nun, attempted to strike at MacGyver, but in the ensuing struggle, Piedra was stabbed by his own poisoned dart, and he died.

Once the risk was eliminated, Archbishop Fierro was able to address the crowd at the convent as planned.
