Lila had worked for Cheri's escort service, despite her sister Terry begging her to get out of the business.

International assassin Piedra was known to use call girls to make his pickups, and then he would kill them. When his contact, C. W. Smith, used Cheri's agency to arrange for an escort for Piedra, under the name Mr. Gray, Lila met with him. Lila was fearful after their encounter and was preparing to leave when Piedra broke into her apartment at the Melrose Arms and fatally stabbed her.

When Terry arrived at her sister's apartment, she found Lila dying. Her last words were, "I should have listened to you. He's crazy." As Lila died in her arms, Terry vowed revenge for her sister's murder.
