SARA ASHFORD

Sara Ashford

MacGyver was introduced to Sara Ashford in North Africa by Sister Ann, who ran an orphanage there. Neither MacGyver nor Sister Ann would have known at the time that "Sara Ashford" was undoubtedly an alias.

Sara asked MacGyver to help break her brother Brian out of Harosh Prison. She explained that he was a medical missionary but was being held as a political prisoner in a wing with extra security.

MacGyver agreed to help and managed to get himself arrested and incarcerated in the prison in order to arrange a prison break from the inside. Sara bribed her way into the prison and pretended to be MacGyver's wife to arrange a private meeting and coordinate the details of their plan, and she arranged for the vehicle that would be used to get away.

The prison break was successful, however afterward MacGyver learned the truth, that Sara was in fact a representative of the Soviet government whose job it was to deliver weapons to Soviet allies in the Third World. Brian was not her brother but rather a crooked arms dealer who had stolen weapons from her to sell on the black market to terrorists. Sara had intended to free him in order to get the weapons back, but once he was released Brian intended to kill MacGyver and complete the sale of the weapons.

Sara considered MacGyver to be a decent human being and would not agree to kill him. Brian was able to elude them both and met with Nigerian buyers in a warehouse by the harbor. Although reluctant to trust her, MacGyver agreed to partner with Sara to apprehend Brian on the condition that if they found the weapons they would blow them up. Together they located Brian and Sara drove the getaway car as MacGyver lit a fuse, destroying the entire cache of weapons and confiscating the briefcase of cash left behind by the Nigerian buyers.

When MacGyver and Sara returned to the orphanage, they presented Sister Ann with the briefcase of cash to be used for the care of the children.
