BRIAN ASHFORD

When MacGyver was introduced to Sara Ashford in North Africa, she asked him to help break her brother Brian out of Harosh Prison. She explained that he was a medical missionary who had been arrested when bringing valuable relief supplies into the country, and he was now being held as a political prisoner in the maximum-security wing of the prison.

MacGyver agreed to help and managed to get himself arrested and incarcerated in the prison in order to arrange a prison break from the inside. Upon learning that the corrupt Commandant had every cell bugged and that the manipulative head prisoner Khan had established a PCP lab in his cell, he used them to his advantage, and with the help of fellow prisoner François Villars he orchestrated a prison break and freed Brian Ashford.

After the rescue, however, MacGyver learned the truth, that Sara was in fact a Soviet agent and Brian was not her brother but rather a crooked arms dealer who had stolen weapons from her to sell on the black market. She had intended to free him in order to get the weapons back, but once he was released Brian intended to kill MacGyver and complete the sale of the weapons.

Brian escaped and met with Nigerian buyers in a warehouse by the harbor, but MacGyver and Sara were able to track him down and blow up the entire stash of weapons.
