FRANÇOIS VILLARS

François Villars was a French prisoner in Harosh Prison in North Africa. He had a wife and five children and had been incarcerated for five years for the crime of not bribing a judge, with six more months to go on his sentence when he met MacGyver in the prison.
MacGyver had allowed himself to be arrested and imprisoned as part of a scheme to break Brian Ashford out of the prison. François befriended him and shared his quarters with him, and although he did not want to risk his upcoming release by trying to join the prison break, he believed in the value of humanity and was anxious to help MacGyver with his plan.
François gave MacGyver the lay of the land, informing him that the Commandant had bugged every cell and warning him to be cautious of Khan, the prisoner who maintained control over the other prisoners with the help of his personal enforcer, Fuad. As MacGyver's plan developed, François helped by delivering messages, setting up a sound recording over the Commandant's PA system, and leading Brian Ashford from his cell to the waiting car. As Brian and MacGyver made their escape, François remained behind to finish the remainder of his sentence.
