COMMANDANT

When MacGyver was tasked with helping to break Brian Ashford out of Harosh Prison in North Africa, he arranged to have himself arrested and incarcerated to orchestrate the escape from the inside. There he met the corrupt Commandant who informed MacGyver that his survival in prison was his own affair.

The Commandant had every cell in the prison bugged, and he used prison informants such as Khan and his enforcer Fuad to keep himself informed of what happened within prison walls. MacGyver used this to his advantage by using misdirection to convince the Commandant that Brian Ashford was worth $12 million and that a prison break was being arranged by helicopter.

The Commandant prepared for an aerial assault, but his precautions failed spectacularly when, with the help of fellow prisoner François Villars, MacGyver used the PA system in the Commandant's office and an explosive diversion in Khan's cell to break Brian Ashford out of prison through the main gate.
