MacGyver traveled to North Africa shortly after the region had experienced an earthquake. He met up with Sister Ann who ran an orphanage there, and he helped to repair the organ that had been damaged in the quake and to provide much needed medicines as well as a playground for the children.

Sister Ann introduced MacGyver to Sara Ashford, who asked him to break her brother Brian Ashford out of Harosh Prison. MacGyver agreed to the request and got himself arrested and incarcerated in the prison where he encountered the corrupt Commandant, the manipulative head prisoner Khan and his ruthless enforcer Fuad, as well as François Villars who befriended him and assisted him with his mission.

The escape was successful, however afterward MacGyver discovered that Brian Ashford was not Sara's brother but was in fact a crooked arms dealer, and MacGyver and Sara then collaborated to destroy his cache of weapons.
