DIMITRI

Dimitri was a patient in Ward K of the state psychiatric hospital near Leningrad. He identified himself as a political prisoner but pretended to be mad to avoid the sadistic treatments administered to political prisoners under interrogation by Dr. Suvarin.

When MacGyver had himself admitted to the hospital in order to free Russian dissident Alexander Karsov, Dimitri welcomed him and introduced him to the other residents of Ward K, including Chessmaster and Lopat. He was skeptical that MacGyver's mission would succeed, but as the plan began to take shape, he actively offered his support by staging a loud diversion in the ward and helping to hide Karsov from the guards.

With the staff sedated by a mild psychotropic drug, MacGyver and Pete were able to walk out of the hospital prison with Karsov, and Dimitri was among the many patients who escaped with them.
